How to Customize your Contact Profile for iMessages?

iOS 13 allows users to automatically show their customized name and picture, which could be a Memoji, to other iPhone users when they are chatting with them from the Messages application. In this blog, we will discuss how you can customize the contact profile on iMessages.

Set a Name & Image for the Profile in iMessage

If you want to set a name and image  for the profile in iMessage, then you need to follow the instructions given below.

• First of all, you have to unlock the Messages application on the device.
• Then you should tap on the horizontal ellipsis menu icon.
• You have to select Edit Name & Photo.
• Go to the “Share Your Name and Photo with Friends” & tap on Choose Name and Photo option.
• Move to the right-hand side & choose the View More option.
• Navigate to the photo you want to use. You have the option of choosing images between the Suggestions & recent Animoji on the device.

Select an Animoji

• Open the camera in Animoji segment.
• When the prompts come for “Strike your favorite pose,” just smile.
• Then you should tap on the capture button.
• Go to the Animoji & Move and Scale it.
• You have to tap on Choose.
• Thereafter choose a color for the background.
• Now, tap on Done.
• Beneath Display Name, modify the first and last name, if suitable.
• Then tap on Continue.
• You should choose Use option to apply this picture as the Apple ID & My Card in Contacts. If not, you can tap on Not Now.
• Later, select Contacts Only or Always Ask beneath Share Automatically.
• Now, tap on Done.

Choose the Initials

If you want to choose the initials as the profile, then you need to follow the instructions given below.

• Get started by going to the Messages application on your device.
• You should choose the horizontal ellipsis menu icon.
• Go to the bottom & tap on the Edit Name & Photo.
• Navigate to the left screen & tap on Edit option.
• Beneath Suggestions, select the circle with the initials in it.
• Thereafter select the color for the background.
• Now, tap on Done.

Choose Another Picture as the Profile

You need to choose another picture as the profile, follow the steps mentioned below.

• To get started, open the Messages application on your device.
• You have to select the horizontal ellipsis menu icon.
• Then you should tap on the Edit Name & Photo.
• Go to the left screen & tap on Edit.
• Now, select All Photos.
• After that, select the Photo.
• When appropriate, Move & Scale.
• You should apply a filter.
• Now, tap on Done.

Use your Profile in iMessage

If you want to use your profile in iMessage, then you need to follow the instructions given below.

• To begin with, unlock the Messages application on your device.
• Then you have to select the horizontal ellipsis menu icon.
• Later, tap on Edit Name & Photo.
• Go to the next screen & switch the toggle of “Share Name & Photo to the “On” position.
• Make sure sharing is turned on. Check how you wish to share the profile. You can select from the following: Contacts only, Anyone or Always ask.
